It’s right in the midst of the holiday rush, but what better time to come downtown for some last minute gift shopping, to pull on your skates for the first time this year, visit with neighbours and support local artists and merchants?!
Market Square (in front of City Hall): 7-10pm: Bring your skates and your friends to join the Downtown Neighbourhood Association as we celebrate the Market Square rink being open! Right in front of City Hall. There will be hot apple cider provided! *FF* (reminder: Carden St. between Wilson and Wyndham is returning to two way traffic).
Craft Market: 7-10pm & Rob O’Flanagan Spoken Word 8pm
10 Carden (10 Carden St.): Come on down and finish up your last minute shopping. Find the perfect stocking stuffers or larger gifts for loved ones! Children”s author Deb Loughead will be on site to sign books. You can also see Rob O”Flanagan perform his spoken word poetry at 7:45pm. *FF*
The Casual Gourmet (52 Carden St): 7-9pm: Drop into the store to pick up wonderful kitchen gifts for family and friends, find unique and unusual stocking stuffers or deck yourself out in fun kitchen aprons to prepare your holiday feast!
Valerie Senyk Spoken Word
B-Chocolate (30 Carden St): 7-8pm: Come into B Chocoates to warm up after skating and buy some delightful hot chocolate or quality chocolates to take home to your loved ones! They make great stocking stuffers! Also come in to hear Valerie Senyk perform her fabulous spoken word.
@ Whitestone Gallery (80 Norfolk Street, Guelph): 14 great artists showing work. See ceramics by potter Goldie Sherman. We plan to have a coffee maker and cookies for visiting participants. 7-10pm
@ Red Brick Cafe (8 Douglas Street, Guelph): Get a sheet with descriptions. $10 per person for 4 samples. 1 white & 3 reds from one country or varietal. Each month different wines. No reservations required. Impress your friends with your new wine knowledge! @5-11pm
The Trafalger Building: 3rd floor, 123 Woolwich St., Kathleen Schmalz: Paintings in oil and acrylic and mixed media works: local street-scapes; water images across Canada; laundry in the breeze and other images plus cards for sale. Come by for hot cider and seasonal cheer.
This Fourth Fridays, Lydia Nieuwenkamp will be working in Tammy Ratcliff’s studio doing various print demonstrations and will have her work on display and available for sale. 7-10pm
Drop by Pearl Van Geest’s studio where she is preparing for exhibitions opening in the new year. She will be hanging out and has some small works for sale!
